The African Section 99s proudly participated in the Aviation Africa Summit & Exhibition, held on 5th February 2020 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and hosted by Ethiopian Airlines. The summit brought together aviation leaders, governments, and industry stakeholders to address key challenges and opportunities shaping Africa’s aviation future.
The 2020 theme, “Creating a Sustainable Future for Africa’s Aviation Industry: Financially, Operationally and Environmentally – How Africa Must Adapt for Tomorrow’s World”, focused on collaboration, technological innovation, financial resilience during COVID-19, airport development, and the importance of open skies under SAATM.
Dina Dawod represented the African Section 99s as a speaker on the panel, “Ensuring We Have the People and the Quality to Sustain Growth”. The discussion explored building a more inclusive, diverse, and resilient aviation workforce, addressing barriers to training, retention, diversity, and closing the critical skills gap. The key message echoed throughout the summit was the need for cooperation and unified action to strengthen Africa’s aviation industry for the future.
