The Airbus Foundation, together with its partners The Little Engineer and the African Section of The Ninety-Nines, promoted youth development through the Airbus Little Engineer Aviation Robotics Workshop in Malawi.

The Airbus Little Engineer A380 Assembly Workshop was a hands-on robotics programme designed for learners aged 12 and above. The initiative aimed to inspire young people to explore careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) while introducing them to the fascinating world of aviation and robotics.

During the workshop, students explored how robotics and engineering contribute to modern aircraft development. They learned about the Airbus A380 and discovered how different components are manufactured across various countries before coming together for final assembly in Toulouse or Hamburg.

The programme marked a proud and historic moment for Malawi, as it was the first time the Airbus Foundation had visited the country to deliver this type of educational initiative. Although Malawi has a relatively small aviation industry and no Airbus aircraft operating locally, Airbus recognised the tremendous potential of Malawian youth and the importance of creating opportunities for them to explore science, technology, engineering and aviation.

Robotics played an important role in the programme, helping students develop practical skills in design, engineering, creativity, teamwork and problem-solving. It also demonstrated how technology and innovation can be used to address real-world challenges and create opportunities across Africa. The African Section 99s was proud to support this important initiative and help bring aviation and STEM education to young people in Malawi.
