The African Section 99s contributed to the 8th Aviation Africa Summit & Exhibition, highlighting the importance of STEM initiatives and mentorship for young women in aviation. Along the sidelines of the summit, the African Section 99s delivered a meaningful STEM outreach initiative, reinforcing the importance of inspiring the next generation of aviation professionals.
As part of this initiative, 50 girls from Soweto Aurora High School were taken on an educational visit to the Rand Museum, where they were introduced to the history of aviation, aircraft technology, and the wide range of career opportunities available within the aviation industry. The visit aimed to ignite curiosity, broaden horizons, and demonstrate that aviation is an achievable and exciting career path for young women.
Following the outreach programme, members of the African Section 99s attended the summit and exhibition, engaging with industry leaders, governments, and stakeholders. The event provided an invaluable platform to discuss aviation development, workforce challenges, and the role of STEM education, mentorship, and diversity in building a sustainable and inclusive future for African aviation.
