Maxine Zhanda

Starting her flight training in 2021 has had its ups and downs but she realized that to fulfil her
dreams she has to start where she is, use what she has and to do what she can! There was a
lack of consistency in her training throughout the year due to financial constraints, weather and
aircraft availability. She took a gap year and went back home to Zimbabwe. During her waiting
period she was diligently applying for scholarships because slow progress is better than no
progress at all. To keep herself motivated and being around people who share the same interest
she joined Ninety nines Inc and the EAA.

Maxine later secured 2 scholarships that very much helped attain her solo as well as her
PPL. She is currently working in the UK to raise money for her CPL. Her ultimate goal to become
an A380 Captain as well as raising an awareness campaign that targets young aspiring female
pilots across Africa. Her message to fellow aspiring pilots is that don’t let anyone dim your light,
we equally own the skies whatever legal airspace we find ourselves in.
